Window estimates are easiest to compare when each one clearly identifies both the product and the work around the opening.

Match the product details

Compare style, dimensions, operation, glass, frame material, color, screens, hardware, and any performance information relevant to the home.

Compare installation work

Ask about removal, flashing or water management, air sealing, insulation, trim, interior patching, exterior finish work, cleanup, permits where required, and warranty responsibility.

Clarify hidden conditions

Ask how damaged framing or moisture findings will be documented and approved. Keep final measurements, selections, and written scope together.

Put every bid on the same worksheet

Ask bidders to measure the same openings and identify each proposed product by manufacturer, line, style, frame material, glass package, color, screens, and hardware. A quote that says only “replacement windows” does not let you compare performance, operation, or appearance. For energy claims, ask for the whole-product rating rather than a claim about glass alone.
